Class3 Lesson4 Progression

What a crazy week, finishing one assignment and starting the next, getting into the FXPHD groove which is also helping me get back into CineMan, Cinema 4D’s RenderMan connection. Why spend all this time getting back into RenderMan with all this other stuff going on you ask? It is because Pixar has asked us to present at their booth again this year, and despite having barely touched it in 8 months there is just no way one can turn down an opportunity like that. SO that means reviewing everything to make sure I’m up to snuff on it all again.

So that means SIGGRAPH is a week away, and a lot of preparation still left for me to do. I’m not doing any demonstrations myself at the Maxon booth, just the Pixar demo so I’ll be a little more free than typical trade shows which is nice. It’s extra nice as it also means we have some really kick ass artists demoing at the MAXON booth again, just like at NAB, and I have to say I really like this approach to getting more studios involved in the main theatre presentations instead of mostly feature demos.

And Just like NAB MAXON and Kai the Stuff Guy will both be trying to keep everyone a little more in the loop via twitter so make sure to follow both of us.

Anyways here is Stewie shoveling

Class2 Lesson7 Progression

I made sure this week to actually put time in each day on my assignment and yet I still ended up staying up extremely late on Saturday (well technically Sunday morning) finishing. Overall I’m quite pleased with this one, there’s some great things and some really really bad things. Overall the timing isn’t where I’d like it but to do the things I’d want I’d need another 50 frames to get more time for the reactions and such. As well Mike recommended I have him bounce around or hobble a bit when he’s on one leg but I just didn’t have the time to modify that sections since it was already working reasonably well.

Anyways new assignment is similar to the last although some choices allow for us to use a Stewie with Arms. I’ve still opted to continue without arms on this one and bring back Tailor as an instigator to the action. Let’s see if I can actually have some blocking done by Tuesday this time.

Class2 Lesson4 Progression

What a week to be both finishing one assignment and starting another. I wasn’t really set up to film reference while in Vegas, although one assignment option was drunken stumble, and there was plenty of that I can assure you.

Anyways, refined a lot f it, I’m still not happy with the ending, but thats what this is all about, learning right?

Wow the last assignment in for this term, now its just refining and making a progress reel of all my assignments for this term. Its nice to have a little more time this week as I’m currently crunching on a freelance job as well, and will be heading to San Francisco Thursday and Friday for GDC as mentioned in my last posting.

So for Next week look forward to a compilation of all my Class 1 assignments. For now Here is the finished character walk.

Class1 Lesson9 Progression

Well this time I had to crunch after getting back form Germany, but that didnt’ stop me from accepting an invite to a guys poker night on Friday, Thanks Guys it was great.

I’m getting much more comfortable with Maya now, and the previous week Paul had given us some great shortcuts and such to help with working in Maya such as the “K” key which allows you to scrub the animation anywhere, CINEMA 4D has the equivalent shortcut assigned to “J” but it currently doesn’t work in the new R10/11 Timeline, don’t worry I’ve posted a bug report.

Stu is a little concerned this week.

Oh and some revisions of last weeks blocking, of course this all went into doing the final walk you see up above, but also some changes to the Stu pose
